: The Pullins ReportScott Pullins: With Foreclosures Growing, HOA's Pile On
By The Pullins Group LLC
With homeownership in such deep trouble, you would think that the homeowners associations that govern many neighborhoods would be alarmed by this trend. Never, however, doubt the total lack of common sense from the leadership of these HOA's.
Last night, at the monthly board meeting of my HOA here in Apple Valley, the treasurer and member of the board proposed that we increase membership assessments on all new members by 100%. We would have been better off just passing a resolution forbidding anyone from selling their homes!
At a time when homeowners are giving cash bonuses to sell their homes, giving away cars, boats, and tv's as incentives, why in the heck would an HOA make it harder to sell homes? Warning, when entering a homeowners association, please check your common sense at the gate.
