TV while working?

By RJ

ADVERTISEMENTS
I confess. I have a TV with cable in my office. I'm a news lover. My preference is to start the day with local news, but you can find me watching CNN, Headline News, MSNBC, or FOX.

Why am I a news freak? Honestly, I didn't used to be. For me it started on September 11, 2001. I woke up on the West Coast that morning around 7:00 AM. Around 8ish the phone rang. My loved one called to inquire what I was doing. Of course, I was pissy and said getting ready for work! It was in that phone call I learned that learned something horrible was happening. The first thing I did was call the office. I was still expected to show up at work. What I didn't do was turn on the news. We all know the outcome of 9/11.

From that day forward, I turn on the news as early each day as I can. I will never go without being informed again. It's sort of a sinking feeling.

What's the downside to being a news freak? Having the TV on during business hours is a big downside for me. I'm always fumbling around to find the remote control to turn the TV down, or put it on mute. I've even been known to miss a call or two for not finding the remote quickly enough.

Today I found the TV Silencer! The TV-Silencer automatically mutes the sound from the TV or the Stereo and pauses the VCR and DVD player when the telephone rings. What a great idea. The TV-Silencer is perfect for me or anyone else who needs to mute the TV when the phone rings.
