Trump Releases Own Birth Certificate, Wants Confirmed Legal President

By Phil

Billionaire businessman Donald Trump about a week ago made headlines when on ABC’s The View by spending several minutes discussing Mr. Obama’s background and birth certificate and characterizing the lack thereof as “troubling.”

Yesterday, The Donald adamantly doubled-down on the issue and even allegedly released his own hospital-generated birth certificate (via NewsMax):

Mr. Trump was also interviewed by Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren:

Real-time reaction and news coverage can be found via Google News.

Glad to see Mr. Trump willing to take this issue on in full force. Having now opened up commenting once again on my site, I’m sure there will be much reaction to all of this from readers across the political spectrum (and I don’t promise to respond to every comment!).

Regarding the alleged birth certificate embedded, above, is it for real? Don’t know, just like I, personally, don’t know about Mr. Obama’s alleged certification of live birth. However, at least Mr. Trump’s document actually claims to be from a specific hospital and, even more importantly, contains the name of the physician who allegedly delivered him.

Of course, whether or not the above image of a piece of paper is legitimate brings up yet another legitimate question, one that folks such as myself have been asking for more than two years now:

Is it enough to use a birth certificate as the sole means by which a presidential candidate should be deemed eligible?

Once we all get over terms like “birther” and deal with the issue in good will and candor, we can then have a legitimate discussion on such details.

It really is important — else it wouldn’t be in the Constitution. It’s simply too bad — as The Donald repeatedly points out — that those of us who question are more often than not browbeaten for such questions.
