Chief cabinet secretary Edano was asked how long the shutdown process will probably take. And, as he did before, he declined to comment on that question, since there are too many uncertainties left and this is certainly not yet the time to relax and take things easy.

However, he said that they have managed to avoid a worsening of the situation. And in the meantime, power has been restored as well as the ability to pump fresh water.

That sounds about right. Every minute they manage to avoid a serious event helps them to get more options in their fight to shut the Units down safely.
