WA: HB 1063--Bill to create parole review for juveniles sentenced to LWOP

By Real Cost of Prisons Project (The Sentencing Project)

ADVERTISEMENTS
Washington State has proposed legislation that would give the juvenile lifers in this state a second chance. It would remand us from a life without sentence to a minimum of 15 years with a parole hearing every third year after that. The bill is HB1063 (2011). I am not aware of your stance on this issue. If you feel we deserve to be able to work toward a second chance, I am asking for your help. What all 28 of us juvenile offenders in this state needs is for as many as possible to contact their representatives and tell them you support the bill. The address for the safety committee where the bill is now is; Public Safety Committee P.O. Box 40600 Olympia, WA 98504-0600
