: Food Safety NewsSerrano Peppers Recalled for Possible Salmonella
By Dan Flynn and Suzanna Schreck
World Variety Produce, Inc., of Los Angeles said the recalled peppers were sold in Walmart stores in Wisconsin, Montana, Utah and Wyoming and Jewel-Osco stores in Illinois from March 1 through March 18.
Routine sampling by the USDA revealed that the finished products contained the bacteria. World Variety Produce, Inc. has ceased the production and distribution of the product as the company, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the California Department of Public Health continue their investigation into what caused the contamination. There have been no reports of illness associated with the peppers.
Consumers with questions may contact World Variety Produce, Inc. at 1-800-588-0151 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. PDT.
