: The Volokh ConspiracyWilliam J. Stuntz, 1958?2011
By Orin Kerr
I have posted before about Harvard Law Professor Bill Stuntz, the leading criminal procedure scholar of his generation, who has been terminally ill. I am saddened to report that Harvard Law School has issued this press release announcing Bill?s death yesterday at the age of 52.
Those interested in learning more about Bill?s influence might start with the symposium last year about his work, in which I was honored to participate. Contributions from that symposium will be published as a book at some time in the next year. Also, Bill has two forthcoming books that will be published posthumously: Defining Crimes, a casebook co-authored with Joseph Hoffman, and a book on the decline of the criminal justice system that will be published by Harvard University Press.
UPDATE: Adam White has more at the Weekly Standard.
