One of the first orders of business soon after Howrey's partners voted to break up the firm last Wednesday was the distribution of WARN Act notices to staff members--required by law in certain states when an employer of more than 100 employees plans a mass layoff. Many unknowns, including uncertainty over pay, remain for staffers.
