Bertie Ahern resigns as Ireland's Prime Minister

"Bertie Ahern today announced that he is to stand down as Ireland's Prime Minister following a financial scandal that saw his secretary break down in tears in public".

Belatedly, Bertie Ahern has done the right thing and resigned. In complete contrast, the Speaker Michael Martin, refuses to resign even after his press officer Mike Grannatt resigned for misleading the media on his behalf.

Perhaps, those in Westminister should take a leaf out of the book of Irish politics?
