OP-Ed: Courier Journal and other news organizations have a strange way of making irrelevancies relevant in what is germane to the news.

Talk about your stories which get curiouser and curiouser.

The Courier Journal recently had a story applauding the fact that a disclosure about a war hero's sexual orientation was not essential to the story and thus deleted it from the story.  However, the decision not to mention the fact that the deceased soldier was gay then became a story in which it was disclosed.

Hmmmm.  Something strangely odd about this convoluted manner of writing the news?

Well.  Those news organizations which did not disclose the sexual orientation of a deceased war hero in an era of "don't ask, don't tell" got it right.  Continuing not to mention it still gets it right.

I have mentioned no names.  I got it right, but I could have been "more" right by not writing this story at all.
