I don't know what took people so long to discuss this. Obama has to pick a VP at some point.

The smart money is on Webb.

1. Part of the crowd of new Democrats of which Obama is a part of.
2. Strong on security
3. Not diverse (see this article for why pundits think a white guy is best)
4. Virginia is a swing state with Obama on the top of the ticket, and a state trending blue.

There are a few other possible picks -- Wes Clark, Bill Richardson, Bob Casey. But I think Webb is probably better than all of those.
