: FinancialCounselEccleston Law Actively Seeking Victims Of The Steven T. Kobayashi Fraud Involving Life Settlement Partners, LLC
By James Eccleston
The attorneys at Eccleston Law are actively seeking victims of the fraud perpetuated by former UBS Financial Services, LLC adviser Steven T. Kobayashi, who is a resident of Livermore, California. Those with information about this fraud are also encouraged to contact our attorneys.
The SEC recently filed fraud charges against Kobayashi for misappropriating at least $3.3 million in a scheme that included bilking investors in a private investment fund that he established and controlled.
Kobayashi, who formerly worked at the UBS branch office in Walnut Creek, California, created a pooled investment fund named Life Settlement Partners, LLC, which purportedly invested in life settlement policies. Kobayashi raised several million dollars from his UBS customers for this fund.
Starting in 2006, Kobayashi used the investor funds for person use, which included spending over $1.4 million on expensive cars, prostitutes, and gambling debts. In an attempt to repay some of the investors that discovered the theft, Kobayashi induced several other UBS customers to liquidate securities in their UBS account and transfer the proceeds to entities controlled by Kobayashi. Kobayashi was able to steal an additional $1.9 million from UBS customers in this manner.
If you have suffered losses investing in Life Settlement Partners or the fraud perpetuated by Steven Kobayashi, you may be able to recover your losses through securities arbitration.
