Regulation D (also known as Reg D) is a regulation of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (the "SEC"), and is also a term for an investment strategy, mostly associated with hedge funds, based upon that regulation. It also affects individual savings and money market accounts with banks and credit unions, and any other person or entity that wants to sell "securities." It is found at in Title 17 of the Code of Federal Regulations, part 230, Sections 501 through 508. The legal citation is 17 C.F.R. §230.501 et seq.
