A class-action lawsuit filed by the $15.2 billion Louisiana Teachers? Retirement System, Baton Rouge, as lead plaintiff against Pfizer Inc., New York, can go forward, but without parts of the original suit, a federal judge in New York ruled Tuesday.
U.S. District Court Judge Laura Swain rejected a request by Pfizer to throw out the suit, filed May 5, 2006, which claimed that Pfizer concealed the results of three medical studies concerning its Celebrex and Bextra drugs to protect its share price. However, Ms. Swain threw out a market manipulation charge in the original lawsuit.
