: New York City Personal Injury LawyerGrisly on the Job Accident as a Port Chester Man Gets Caught in Stump Grinder
By Paul Napoli
March 19, 2011
A horrific accident involving a tree trimming company employee and an operating stump grinder has left the worker fighting for his life and government officials investigating, reports the Greenwich Time.
An unidentified worker suffered potentially life-threatening injuries yesterday afternoon after one leg and both arms became entangled in the wheel of a large commercial stump grinder servicing a luxury residential property at 537 North ST in Greenwich, CT.
Emergency responders transported the man to Stamford Hospital, but his condition is unknown.
A commercial stump grinder is an industrial machine with a serrated wheel that rotates to chip away the wood of the tree stump.
The news source reports that equipment and vehicles at the site had no tree trimming company name or logo and Lt. Kraig Gray of the Greenwich Police said they were still trying to figure out who owns the company.
Police have not released the identity of the employee, only that he is a resident of Port Chester, NY.
A representative from the Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) responded to the scene to investigate the incident.
