END OF THE LINE . . . Does this news make you sad? Encyclopedia Britannica ends print edition.

Long, long ago, when I didn't have room in my apartment for a set of encyclopedias, I set up an in-home appointment with one of the company's salesmen. I looked over the pricing schedules and mulled it over and decided to wait.

I waited twenty-three years . . . I guess I waited too long.
