George Monbiot says that the newest melting record should be top news everywhere and points to this article in the Guardian.
I am not so sure about that. Anybody paying attention should expect nothing else anyway. So this becomes sort of a “dog bites man” story.
At this point, I would consider it top news worthy if in any of the coming years the ice melting record is not shattered by a substantial margin.
I still recommend reading that article, since it has some good graphics on the amount of ice left.
