Jake's Roadhouse Lawsuit

$704,649 settlement in personal injury lawsuit.

Jake's Roadhouse

Lafayette, IN: (Jun-26-07) Christopher Harmon, 22, a motorcyclist who is totally disabled as a result of a crash caused by a drunken driver, filed suit against Jake's Roadhouse, a West Lafayette bar, and Boston-based Lexington Insurance Co., its insurance provider. Harmon has been described as being in a waking coma as a result of a brain injury suffered in the September 2, 2004, crash. His parents and legal guardians, Charles and Cynde Harmon, from Massachusetts, were forced to quit their full-time jobs in lieu of the circumstances, buy a house in Indiana and move there to take care of him.

In a settlement reached, Harmon will receive $704,649 from Lexington Insurance Co. under a $1 million liquor liability insurance policy issued to Jake's Roadhouse. Further, as part of the settlement agreement, the Harmons would release Jake's from further liability. [JOURNAL AND COURIER: MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT]
