Octomom Above the Law? For Now
Posted on Celebrity Justice on March 30, 2009It seems society can?t let go of the Nadia Suleman?s story and its desire to see the ?Octomom? punished. With every move Suleman makes, including her latest ?firing? of the free in-home child care services provided by a national charity, a question persists: Can she be charged with child abuse or neglect and stripped of [...

Peggy Noonan: Is ?Octomom? America?s Future?
Posted on Constitutionally Correct on February 13, 2009Peggy Noonan has this gloomy commentary in the Wall Street Journal. She writes: . . . It’s Sully and Suleman, the pilot and “Octomom,” the two great stories that are twinned with the era. The Octomom - I bet she hasn't done proper estate planning
Posted on North Carolina Estate Planning Blog on April 02, 2009The other day I started thinking about Nadya Suleman (the Octomom), the California single mother of 14 who has been in the news so much lately. A professional hazard, I guess, but I wondered - has she done any estate planning? Does she have a Will? If so, has she named a guardian or guardians for her 14 children (who would want that job!)? Does she have a trust set up for the kids? Who's the trustee? Does she have a general and durable power of attorney in case she becomes incapacitated? Does she have any (or enough) life insurance to at least partially provide for her children in the event of her death? My guess is that she doesn't have any of these things...

Dueling OCTOMOM Trademark Applications Filed with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office
Posted on Las Vegas Trademark Attorney on April 16, 2009Like most people (at least I would like to think most people), I find the whole OCTOMOM story ridiculous. She has single handedly ruined the name Nadia for me ? a great name which I was going to give to my future daughter until now. I even go out of my way to avoid reading or watching any tabloid stories on Nadya Suleman just so that I won?t play a part in the media frenzy feeding into her octo-ego...
